Lia Sophie Laukant’s Bittersweetness takes the form of a photobook and serves as a visual journal reclaiming the female body from societal expectations and the male gaze. Through intimate 35mm self-portraits, the series explores contradictions between celebrating the body and resisting its sexualization. Addressing themes such as sex, menstruation, and beauty standards, Bittersweetness reflects a generation of women breaking free from imposed constraints.
