The one and only, unique and pure – just Harlem, and nothing else. Sole Harlem presents the district as a magical place of longing that lives within and cannot carry its essence outside. The words convey both its uniqueness and the ambiguity of sole or bottom. The sole — the streets of Harlem — is the setting of the photographic staging, which balances expectations and clichés with what lies at its core: home. Sole Harlem portrays the people, their home, their soul, and the sound of the district. The photographs reveal a personal perspective, capturing Harlem and its residents not as an objective narrative, but as a lived, intimate reality.
