The annual excursion to the Rencontres d’Arles, Europe’s largest photography festival in southern France, has become a tradition and a key attraction of UE’s BA Photography & New Media program. During opening week, students engage in hands-on encounters with artists, curators, and industry experts amid exhibitions in unique locations—from abandoned churches to the modern Luma Arles tower. The festival’s intimate, walkable setting and Mediterranean evenings foster peer bonding, while faculty networks help transform these experiences into career opportunities.
